WTS vs Quotes: Requiem for a Research Web Site
by Quotes inin compliance with the terms of a settlement agreement, my information and research web site, http://quotes.watchtower.ca, is now "dark".
the domain "watchtower.ca" has been transferred to wts (i assume they will have it pointing to borg.org watchtower.org asap).
my copies of the site have been destroyed, the files deleted, and my wt library cd has been destroyed, in accordance with the settlement agreement which will afford a "discontinuance" of their suit against me.

So were any bible prophecies true?
by cheeseman ini'm just wondering to what extent the bible accurately predicted future events?.
when i was a good little jw, i was constantly reassured that we could have confidence in the paradise because the bible always got it's predictions correct since it was inspired by jah, blah, blah.. does anyone know of a good website which critically examines each bible prophecy one by one?
what do real bible scholars with no bias make off all these prophecies?.

Is Christmas for Atheists?
by LittleToe ingiven that so many practises associated with christmas are blatantly christian in origin, is christmas truly for atheists?
i know that often there are few christian connotations attributed to it nowadays, in such a secularised society, but history is on record in showing that the whole baby jesus thing and angels singing with their "peace and goodwill" stuff is definitely a christian element.
would any true atheist today want to drink such a mixed cup?

well i finally did it!
by Cordelia inhere is yet another thread about me (im so sorry everyone) but hopefully this is the closing chapter, and i just wanted to let anyone thats helped me along the way to know whats happened.. i saw my dad and this time i was totally honest, he took me to some places we went as a child and said basically i have no choice but to stop seeing my boyfreind, and attend the meetings again maybe even work at mending my marriage as that is the only way i will ever be truely happy (apparently).
i said that even tho it means the past 9 months of attending and trying to get reinstated are a waste i just have to stop going to the meetings, i do not believe the society really acting on jehs behalf, (jeh would never shun me, etc) he said he cannot believe how spiritual iwas and that i am so 'apostate' now and in veiw of that he can have nothing to do with me, he cried i cried he said i am dead to him and it breaks his heart esp as he has to deal with the tumours he has found out he has,.
i feel so bad as he has tried to answer my questions and has come up with an answer on them all (except the un) and i know i am throwing contact with my family away and hurting them alot.

Associated Press Writer
Dec 12 3:39 PM US/EasternSAN FRANCISCO - Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger refused to spare the life of Stanley Tookie Williams, the founder of the murderous Crips gang who awaited execution early Tuesday in a case that stirred debate over capital punishment and the possibility of redemption on death row. Williams, 51, is set to die by injection at San Quentin State Prison after midnight for murdering four people in two 1979 holdups.

City leaders rally against violence
PENDING EXECUTION CAUSES CONCERN OVER REACTION
By Jeremiah Marquez
Associated PressLOS ANGELES - Wary of public anger over Stanley Tookie Williams' pending execution, local leaders on Friday called for peace if the Crips gang co-founder is put to death next week for four shotgun murders in Los Angeles County.
Authorities have received reports of possible plans to commit violence if Williams is denied clemency, calling the threats a ``credible concern.''
``What we picked up is enough to make us believe that there will be an attempt in some isolated places for violence,'' Robin Toma, executive director of the county's Commission on Human Relations, said at a news conference at City Hall.
Toma declined to provide further details, but said schools and various county areas could be targeted.
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has yet to decide whether to grant Williams clemency in the 1979 murders. Williams, who is scheduled to die at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday by lethal injection at San Quentin State Prison, would be the 12th inmate executed since California reinstated the death penalty in 1977.
